UNIVERSAL. UNIQUE. UNDERSTANDING
As a little girl I started off as a cheerleader for the Modesto 49ers in Modesto, CA. I was sassy, determined, and full of fire, always ready to give it my all at a very young age. My coach had us all work hard for that front spot so working hard is all I did! I was given multiple opportunities to explore my creative mind by putting together a few eight counts of hip hop in our competitive cheer team routines. Once I began high school, I auditioned for our dance production team and made it! That’s where I learned different styles of dance and fell in love with the idea of becoming a professional dancer.
I learned ballet, tap, jazz, jazz-funk, contemporary, and different cultural dance styles. My dance teacher seen something in me and gave me the opportunity to create my own pieces. A few friends and I, also started our own dance team on campus called Forever Shining. Before senior year started, my dear friend Kaylan Carter passed away and I was ready to give up on everything. I saw him one night and felt that he didn’t want me to give up and I had to continue for him, and I did. I got a dance scholarship to Lindenwood Belleville University and continued to dance. After a year of being away from California, I came to LA to really focus on my dancing.
With the small amount of money I had, I trained as much as I could. I pushed myself because I was doing it with a purpose and I was determined to get better and better everyday. I always felt like no matter what I go through, I could never give up. I have a lot of support and people that told me I have something special and they want to learn from it so I came up with Dancing Melodics. It’s not about how good you are at dancing it’s about how good you want to become, and that’s what I tell my students. I’m here to teach and I’m here to learn and Dancing Melodics gives me that opportunity to do both. I’m a small-town girl that just wants the world to see that dancing is me and I am dance. I could never give up on what I’ve been blessed with and I will always continue to fight for that front spot.
